FISHING POLICY
Now that warm weather is here, it is important to remind homeowners of our long-standing policy that fishing in our three lakes is permitted for Cress Creek Commons residents only. The Commons grounds are private property; not a public park. Our beautiful grounds are expensive to maintain and are the responsibility of all Cress Creek Commons homeowners. Annual pool memberships for non-residents of the Commons allow for use of our pool and tennis courts, but do not include use of the ponds for any reason, including fishing. The annual Father’s Day Fishing Derby will continue to be open to invited guests of Commons residents including relatives and friends from the surrounding area.
When fishing, residents should please keep the following in mind:
- Fish from the grass, not from the rocks. In addition to being dangerous, standing and climbing on the rocks shifts them down into the water which requires costly replacement. Each year, thousands of dollars are allocated to the replacement of lake rocks.
- Parents are strongly encouraged to fish with their children. Children who fish should be supervised at all times. The lake embankments are steep and not suitable places for children of any age to play. Whether fishing or not, children should be instructed to never stand or climb on the rocks and to never, never throw rocks in the lakes.
Thank you for your help communicating and enforcing this policy. It is intended to preserve the high quality of our grounds, reduce our maintenance costs and ensure a quality environment for all Commons residents.
Thank you,
The Cress Creek Commons Homeowners Association Board
