The Cress Creek Garden Club is an organization dedicated to promoting gardening in the community. We are affiliated with the Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. and The National Garden Clubs, Inc. We stimulate interest in gardening in many different ways. We have monthly speakers at our meetings, to build on our horticulture knowledge; we have workshops; we have a plant sale and a member plant exchange. We do community plantings at Naper Settlement, the Children's Museum and Veterans Park on Gartner Road, and the VFW. We require members to participate in our Make It Bake It Fundraiser, which raises money for horticulture scholarships. We also plan garden walks and field trips. Our membership is open to anyone with an interest in gardening. Dues are $20 per year and our membership chairman for the year is Pat Norris at 553-8653 or

We also have a social off shoot to the club. We have formed a monthly knitting/crocheting group (time and dates appear in the garden club newsletter) that meets for two hours at a member's home. We offer instruction as well as camaraderie. We have contributed slippers for the elderly to Community Nursing Home and St. Patricks, helmet liners for our troops in Iraq, lap robes for the Veterans at Hines Hospital as well as assorted items for the Make It Bake It fundraiser.
